Strange things happen when I get bored. My hubby always gets a bit nervous whenever I mention that I’m bored, because sometimes it means that I’m going to suddenly decide to start remodeling the bathroom at 10 p.m. on a Saturday night. Or whatever. When this type of mood strikes, common sense is generally not consulted. I might pull some of the plastic tiles off of a wall before realizing that new sheetrock isn’t something that we have the time, equipment, knowledge, and/or funding to install. “Oh, it’ll be easy“, I say, after some damage has already been done. Generally, the hubby sighs, rolls his eyes, and walks away.
So imagine my husband’s terror when I mentioned being bored the other day while he was safely at work, unable to prevent me from doing whatever he might have envisioned. He needn’t have worried though, because I decided to make something crafty for our son during my time of boredom. This might be the time to mention that my son is a borderline packrat. He had a fit because I threw away a sticky note today with his name on it. He cried for at least a minute because of the sticky note (and possibly because he hadn’t had a nap yet). Because of this nature, we hadn’t been able to throw away a calendar from 2009 yet that had tractors on it. My son LOVES tractors, trucks, trains…..if it has a motor and moves under it’s own power, my son loves it. So, what does one do with an outdated calendar? Why, you make room decor, of course! 😀
I went to Hobby Lobby to pick up some supplies for myself, and some supplies for the posters. A little bit of cutting, gluing, and drying time later, we had these:
They are kind of tacky, but my son thinks they are awesome, so I’m pretty happy with them.
