Things that tick me off Thursday: Dilemmas!

As in, more than one. Dilemma #1 and the main reason for this post? Technology. My laptop (the main computer) is being difficult. Mainly, the battery and it’s charger are refusing to work together. It’s kind of a lengthy explanation, but the gist is that I have to jump through hoops to use this thing. So much for technology making life easier. 🙄 So, now I’m trying to decide if I want to replace it with a tablet (original idea that we’re kind of leaning away from now), a netbook (a possibility), or just a smallish low end laptop. I’ve have stared at specs I don’t fully understand until my eyes have crossed. I’m still no closer to a solution. I think the tablet would be nice, but they’re pretty limited without buying a crapload of accessories for them that drive up the final cost significantly. I mean it’s $150 for the keyboard for the Transformer Prime, and an extra $70 for the one for the iPad 2. By the time you buy a case, you’re looking at ~$700, and I could buy a pretty nice laptop for that, that can do more than a tablet anyway. So yeah….

My other dilemma? Which of these to go with for a cute shirtdress:

Here’s the poll.

  1. We have an iPad. It can be difficult to comment on other people’s blogs with it sometimes. I can’t imagine how I would post a picture on my blog with it. I think I’d go for a “real” computer with full functionality if you can’t have both. That’s just my 2 cents. I am not very technical myself.

  2. I’m a computer programmer when I’m not sewing… My husband builds computers for a hobby and I’ve got an IBM compatible tower that he maintains for me. It’s very powerful but then again, I’m not dragging it all over the house. And we have 2 more of these in the house which are good ones, as well as a couple laptops that are complete dogs for speed.

I like the black with white polka dots! Cute!

  3. I have a netbook and LUV it; my son has an iPad, I see no use for it other than “Angry Birds”… As for the dots, black with white dots, classic.

  4. I love my iPad (and am commenting using it now) but it does not at all replace a real computer. Although I’m not sure I’d be happy with a $700 laptop either… But I’m a bit of a graphics whore and like my electronics powerful. 😉 can’t wait to see the shirtdress!

  5. Thanks everyone for the input on the technology front. I’m still undecided as yet, but I think I’m getting closer. I’m leaning towards getting a traditional laptop in a smaller size (13″ maybe?), so that I can carry it around easily and get decent battery power, while still having the power and programs I need when I need them. I can get a separate tablet later maybe, unless I find a steal of a deal on a tablet laptop. 🙂
