Etsy and such

For the past few days, I’ve been sitting in front of the computer until even my super comfy chair wasn’t very comfortable. Why? Because I finally decided to open my Etsy shop to get some of these patterns out of my  house and into the hands of someone who will love them and use them. Unfortunately, I’ve only got somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of the patterns on the site. The unprinted ones take forever to sort through, so I’m stalling on doing those. And unfortunately, those type are pretty much all I have left…. 😮 I also am still trying to figure out how to accurately charge for shipping internationally, so as yet it just has for the US, but I plan to fix that soon. If anyone has any tips on that, I’d be thrilled to hear them, because from looking at different shops the rates vary pretty wildly. Anyway, you can check it out if you’d like, I have a button in my sidebar. 🙂

No news on the sewing front, I haven’t made it down there in a few days except to drop stuff off. 😳 We haven’t made any progress on our nightstands either…I’m beginning to wonder exactly what we have been doing! LOL! I guess I’ve read 3 books in the last 3 days (what? They were overdue!) so I guess that’s what I’ve been doing. And honestly, I don’t recommend it. The books were far too good for that.

So anyway, I’m boring even myself here, so I’ll quit while I’m ahead. I hope you have a great weekend, and hopefully I’ll have some pretties sewn up to show you next week. 🙂

  1. Well, my mom doesn’t add much to postage. I’m not sure she even adds the price of the envelope to be honest. But… she has rates for Canada and the US and asks people to inquire for shipping charges after that. Most of her sales are to the US and Canada, but she’s had people ask from Italy, England, Turkey, etc. Once you know the weight of the pattern and stationary it shouldn’t be too hard to inquire what it would cost, no?

Looking forward to the pretties. 🙂

    • oh & Ive purchased patterns via etsy from the US previously. I see the postmark so I know how much it costs. Its usually between 5 & 7USD, depending on where in the US it comes from. hope that helps. congrats on the etsy shop!

  3. Take one of your items and wrap it up to send it (just don’t seal the envelope) and weigh it. Then go to the post office site and put in the destination (for international just put in different countries) and the weight and it will give you a price. Don’t forget to add the price of the packaging.

You might have to do the same thing with different weights if you have things that weigh more or if people might order more than one.

  4. What? No sewing? You mean you have Other Things To Do? Lordy. LOL.

Get off the chair if its no longer comfy and find a good book to read ….. for a bit at least. 🙂 Sounds like you need a break from Etsy setup shock!
